Over at Moby Arena on Saturday, the Fresno State Bulldogs and the Colorado State Rams are meeting up in college basketball activity.
Fresno enters this game with an 11-5 record on the year. The Bulldogs have lost two of their last three games, most recently falling in OT to Utah State on Wednesday. In that one, Fresno State’s Deshon Taylor put up 24 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Taylor leads the Bulldogs in scoring on the year as well with 18.8 PPG, while Bryson Williams has 12.7 PPG and 6.8 RPG. Also in double-figures for Fresno are Jaron Hopkins (11.2 PPG), Jahmel Taylor (11.1 PPG) and Ray Bowles (10.8 PPG).
Over on the Colorado State side, they’re sitting at 8-8 this year. The Rams have lost two of their last three games, falling to Boise State and San Diego State in that time. In that SDSU game, Rams guard Jeremiah Paige was the top scorer on 22 points.
Colorado State is led by Prentiss Nixon this year with 17.3 PPG. Deion James is the only other Rams player in double-figures (10.4 PPG), but Paige (9.9 PPG) and Che Bob (9.6 PPG) are close to that threshold.
The Bulldogs are 14-6 ATS in their last 20 Saturday games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games following a straight-up win. Fresno State is also 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four games versus the Mountain West.
Meanwhile, the Rams are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games following a straight-up loss and 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games. Colorado State is also 3-10 ATS in their last 13 overall and the under is 5-1 in their last six home games.
Fresno State has some solid scorers on their top end, but they’re run into a bit of a rough patch since the middle of last month. The Bulldogs have had trouble staying competitive when faced with tougher teams lately. As for Colorado State, they’ve had some successes lately but have had difficulty scoring consistently. I’m a little more comfortable taking Fresno State here.
