Saturday college basketball features a matchup between the Furman Paladins and the Mercer Bears.
The Mercer Bears haven’t been on the hardwood since New Year’s Eve where the team opened conference play with a 74-55 defeat at the hands of the ETSU Buccaneers as a 3.5 point home favorite. Both ends of the struggled with Buccaneers firing away at 56.9% with Mercer countering at 39.2%.

The Bears were led in the scoring column by Ria’n Holland and his 12 points and three assists on 5-12 from the floor followed by a ten point, 12 rebound performance on 5-11 accuracy from Desmond Ringer. Mercer received seven points from Jaylen Stowe while Demetre Rivers added six points and three yanks.
The Furman Paladins have looked formidable in their 2-0 start in the Southern with stellar performances at both ends of the hardwood. Furman comes off of a 107-67 rout of the Citadel on Thursday where they played angry for a full 40 minutes behind a 54.9%-36.5% shooting edge.
The explosive Paladins attack saw Devin Sibley lead all scorers with 26 points and ten rebounds on 10-16 from the field followed by a 20 point effort from Jordan Lyons on 5-10 on threes. Andrew Brown added 12 points and six assists while Daniel Fowler and Matt Rafferty combined for 21 points with Rafferty hauling in eleven rebounds.
