Out at Charles E. Smith Center on Saturday, the Rhode Island Rams will be taking on the George Washington Colonials in college basketball action.
Rhode Island is currently 10-3 this year. The Rams have won their last five straight games, most recently taking out La Salle on Wednesday. In that game, Rhode Island’s top scorer was EC Matthews with 24 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Jared Terrell is the lead Rams scorer this season with 17.4 PPG, and Matthews is second on 14.3 PPG (seven games). They’re the only two Rhode Island players in double-digits this year but Stanford Robinson is close on 9.9 PPG.
As for the Colonials, they’re sitting at 8-7 on the year. George Washington had a three-game win streak going but fell to Duquesne in their most recent game. In that one, George Washington’s Yuta Watanabe logged 14 points.
Watanabe top out the Colonials scoring attack on 14.4 PPG and 7.2 RPG, and Jair Bolden is second with 13.5 PPG. Patrick Steeves is the only other George Washington player in double-digits with 10.8 PPG and 5.4 RPG to his name.
Rhode Island is 5-0 ATS in their last five versus the Atlantic 10 and 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight road games. The Rams are also 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 games following an ATS win and 14-5-1 ATS in their last 20 games overall.
Meanwhile, the Colonials are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 Saturday games. George Washington is also 1-3-1 ATS in their last five following an ATS loss and the under is 4-1 in their last five overall.
The Rams have a couple of really talented players up top, and they’re backed by a pretty well-rounded crew further down the roster. George Washington has some solid guys as well, and for the most part they’re sticking around in their losses despite a tough schedule. This should be a fun one, and I like the Colonials to cover here.
