USA TODAY Sports
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will be looking for their first C-USA win of the year after falling to 0-3 in conference with a 78-76 loss to UTSA in their last outing. Jacobi Boykins led the team with 24 points on 7 of 12 shooting with 3 threes and 6 rebounds, while Amorie Archibald added 10 points as the only other Bulldog to score in double figures in the loss. Daquan Bracey added 9 points to match his 9 assists, while Joniah White added 8 points to match his team-leading 8 rebounds with 3 blocks. Bracey leads the Bulldogs with an average of 15.2 points and 5.1 assists per game while Boykins is the team’s leading rebounder with 5.3 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Louisiana Tech is scoring 79.5 points per game on 46.4% shooting from the field, 38.3% from behind the arc and 73.4% from the foul line this season.
UTEP is 15-3 ATS in their last 18 conference matchups and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games overall while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 road games. Louisiana Tech is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a loss while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games overall. The home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
UTEP has been a covering machine in conference, however they’ve failed to cover in 2 of their 3 conference games this season, and I think part of that is due to the loss of Frazier who has taken a leave of absence from the team for personal reasons. Louisiana Tech is a better team than their record shows, and given the success ATS for the home team in this matchup, I think Louisiana Tech comes out firing and hungry for their first win, so I’ll lay the points with the Bulldogs to cover here.
