The North Texas Mean Green had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 9-7 (2-1 C-USA) on the season after being defeated by the Charlotte 49ers, 70-68, this past Thursday night. North Texas struggled on the offensive end and allowed Charlotte to win at the end of regulation when the 49ers Milos Supica grabbed an offensive rebound and put a lay-up in with just :02 seconds left in regulation. North Texas shot 44.1% from the field and 28.6% (6-21) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Mean Green was Roosevelt Smart who had 12 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and a block. On the season, North Texas is averaging 75.4 ppg on 45.8% shooting from the field. The Mean Green are averaging 7.9 three-pointers per game on 34.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, North Texas has been led by Roosevelt Smart (18.3 ppg, 3.9 rpg), Ryan Woolridge (12.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 5.1 apg, 1.7 spg), Shane Temara (11.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg), and A.J. Lawson (10.1 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 2.5 apg). Defensively, North Texas is allowing their opponents to average 71.8 ppg on 42.5% shooting from the field. The Mean Green have a rebound margin of 3.1 and a turnover margin of -0.9.
The Monarchs are 7-16 ATS in their last 23 games following a straight up win and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games. The Mean Green are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Saturday games and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall.
I was disappointed with the Monarchs performance on the road against Rice however, Old Dominion has still been outstanding on the season and come into this matchup ranked 15th in scoring defense, 26th in turnover margin, and 16th in defensive FG%. North Texas will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing home loss to Charlotte as solid road victories against UTEP and UTSA and come into this contest ranked T-158th in scoring offense and 174th in scoring defense. Both teams are better than what they showed us on Thursday, however, as the Monarchs are just 1-4 ATS on the road this season, I think the Mean Green will do enough at home to cover with the points. Take North Texas and the points.
