The San Francisco Dons will travel to Firestone Fieldhouse to take on the Pepperdine Waves this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The San Francisco Dons dropped to 9-7 (1-2 WCC) on the season after being defeated by the BYU Cougars, 69-59, this past Thursday. San Francisco fought back in the 2nd half to take a 55-53 lead with 7:46 left in regulation, however, the Dons were only able to put up 4 points the rest of the way which allowed BYU to pull away for the victory. San Francisco shot 45.3% from the field and 32.0% (8-25) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Dons was Matt McCarthy who had 16 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. On the season, San Francisco is averaging 68.9 ppg on 40.3% shooting from the field. The Dons are averaging 8.4 three-pointers per game on 31.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Pepperdine vs. San Francisco - 1/6/18 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Pepperdine Waves lost their 6th straight game and dropped to 3-12 (0-3 WCC) on the season after being defeated by the 19th ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs, 89-59, this past Thursday. Pepperdine had no answers for the Bulldogs in the 1st half of this one and couldn’t fight back after a 15-2 Bulldogs run gave Gonzaga a 22-9 lead midway through the 1st half. Pepperdine allowed Gonzaga to shoot 53.8% from the field and was outrebounded by the Bulldogs by a 39-29 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Waves was Eric Cooper Jr. who had 19 points, 4 assists, 1 rebound, and a steal. On the season, Pepperdine is averaging 72.5 ppg on 45.8% shooting from the field. The Waves are averaging 5.1 three-pointers per game on 30.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Pepperdine has been led by Kameron Edwards (15.9 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.1 apg), Colbey Ross (14.1 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 5.2 apg), Eric Cooper Jr. (12.3 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.3 apg), and Trae Berhow (9.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg). Defensively, Pepperdine is allowing their opponents to average 79.7 ppg on 48.2% shooting from the field. The Waves have a rebound margin of 4.3 and a turnover margin of -2.4. Pepperdine will be with Kameron Edwards who is out indefinitely due to a concussion.

The Dons are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 17-5 ATS in their last 22 games following a double-digit loss at home. The Waves are 16-34-1 ATS in their last 51 games overall and 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 games vs. WCC opponents.

San Francisco has traded wins and losses since mid-December and has been led by their defense that ranks 58th in scoring defense and 110th in defensive FG%. Pacific has really struggled on both sides of the ball this season as the Tigers rank just 224th in scoring offense, 350th in three-pointers made per game, and 271st in scoring defense. San Francisco can struggle scoring the basketball at times, but still is a talented team that recently beat a very good Nevada team and as I think the Dons defense will give the Tigers trouble, I’m taking San Francisco to cover this small road spread.
