The Line: Rice Owls +1 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

Over at Tudor Fieldhouse on Saturday, the Charlotte 49ers and the Rice Owls will be matching up in college basketball activity.

Charlotte enters this game with a 5-8 record so far. The 49ers had lost two in a row, but won their last towing Thursday against North Texas. In that game, Niners guard Andrien White logged 23 points.

White is also the leading scorer for the 49ers on the season, averaging 14.2 PPG and 5.0 RPG. Also in the double-digit club for Charlotte this year are Jon Davis (12.9 PPG; 5.5 APG) and Hudson Price (10.2 PPG; nine games).

Over on the Rice side, they’re sitting at 3-13 this season. The Owls have lost their last six straight games, most recently falling in OT to Old Dominion. In that matchup, the Owls’ top scorer was Robert Martin with 17 points.

Heading up the scoring on the season for Rice is Connor Cashaw, with 16.2 PPG and a team-high 6.9 RPG. The only other Owls player in double-figures this year so far is AJ Lapray, with 10.6 PPG and 4.0 RPG in eight games.

Charlotte is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 8-20 ATS in their last 28 road games. The 49ers are also 1-5 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win and 0-7 ATS in their last seven Saturday games.

Meanwhile, Rice is 8-17-1 ATS in their last 26 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win. The Owls are also 1-5 ATS in the last six versus Conference USA and the over is 4-1 in their last five overall.

This game marks the end of a rough six-game road stretch for Charlotte, but thanks to that win over a decent UNT team Thursday, the Niners have a chance to go 3-3 in that stretch with a victory here. They’ve got a good chance of it, despite the solid effort the Owls put up against ODU in their last game. All things considered, I like Charlotte to bag a cover here.
