Over at Pete Hanna Center on Saturday, the Western Carolina Catamounts and the Samford Bulldogs will be meeting up in college basketball action.
Western Carolina enters this game with a 6-8 record thus far. The Catamounts have won their last two games, taking out the Citadel and Chattanooga. In that Thursday game, Western Carolina forward Mike Amius put up 27 points.

On the season, Amius also leads the way in scoring for the Catamounts with 11.4 PPG and 5.2 RPG. The only other Western Carolina player in double-digits this year is Deriece Parks with 10.6 PPG.
Samford is sitting at 5-10 this year. The Bulldogs have lost two of their last three games, falling to Kennesaw State and East Tennessee State in that time. In that most recent outing, Samford was led by Alex Thompson with 19 points.
Heading up the scoring for Samford this season is Demetrius Dyson with 14.1 PPG and 5.0 RPG. Also in double-figures for the Bulldogs are Justin Coleman (12.9 PPG) and Thompson (11.2 PPG).
Western Carolina is 5-1-1 ATS in the last seven Saturday games and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Catamounts are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six versus Southern and the over is 7-2 in their last nine road games.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 5-2 ATS in the last seven home games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The under is 4-1 in Samford’s last five Saturday games and 5-2 in their last seven home games.
Western Carolina stumbled out of the gate, but lately they’re playing better and have won three of their last four games. Samford, meanwhile, is certainly better than their record indicates. The Bulldogs aren’t particularly good rebounders but do have some solid scorers on their roster. This should be an interesting matchup but all in all I like Samford to manage a cover here.
