The Rider Broncs won their 2nd straight game and improved to 9-6 (2-1 MAAC) on the season after defeating the Fairfield Stags, 96-77, this past Friday. Rider had no trouble putting points up on the scoreboard against Fairfield and cruised to victory in the 2nd half after taking a 50-34 halftime lead. Rider shot 50.0% from the field and 50.0% (12-24) from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Broncs was Frederick Scott who had 25 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist in 25 minutes from off the bench. On the season, Rider is averaging 83.7 ppg on 44.7% shooting from the field. The Broncs are averaging 8.4 three-pointers per game on 37.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Rider has been led by Jordan Allen (14.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.0 spg), Stevie Jordan (14.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 6.8 apg), Frederick Scott (14.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg), and Dimencio Vaughn (13.4 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.7 spg). Defensively, Rider is allowing their opponents to average 78.9 ppg on 43.8% shooting from the field. The Broncs have a rebound margin of 2.0 and a turnover margin of 2.1.

The Manhattan Jaspers had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 7-8 (2-1 MAAC) on the season after being defeated by the Monmouth Hawks, 77-66, this past Friday night. Manhattan and Monmouth were tied up at 33-all at halftime, however, the Jaspers couldn’t fight back in the 2nd half after a 15-0 Hawks run gave Monmouth a 57-42 lead with 10:55 left in regulation. Manhattan allowed Monmouth to shoot 56.5% from the field and 36.4% (4-11) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Jaspers was Rich Williams who had 20 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and 2 steals. On the season, Manhattan is averaging 68.7 ppg on 45.4% shooting from the field. The Jaspers are averaging 7.1 three-pointers per game on 38.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Manhattan has been led by Rich Williams (14.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.8 apg), Zane Waterman (10.6 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.3 apg), Calvin Crawford (10.0 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.8 apg), and Zavier Turner (8.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.2 apg). Defensively, Manhattan is allowing their opponents to average 70.2 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field. The Jaspers have a rebound margin of -2.5 and a turnover margin of -1.1.
The Broncs are 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Jaspers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400.
Rider has one 4 of their last 5 games and although their defense can give up some points as they rank 305th in scoring defense, the Broncs have one of the better offenses in the MAAC and come into this matchup ranked 32nd in scoring offense. Manhattan had a tough loss on the road against Monmouth and have struggled a pit on the offensive end this season as the Jaspers rank T-297th in scoring offense and T-277th in three-pointers made per game. Manhattan is 4-0 at home this season, however, I think Rider is the better team in this one and as I think they’ll find success against the Jaspers defense, I’m taking Rider to cover this small road spread.
