Out at Viejas Arena on Tuesday evening, the San Jose State Spartans and the San Diego State Aztecs will be meeting up on the college basketball court.
San Jose State comes into this game with a 3-12 mark so far. The Spartans are sitting on a four-game losing streak right now, most recently losing to New Mexico on Saturday. In that game, San Jose State forward Ryan Welage posted 17 points to lead the team.
USA TODAY Sports
Welage is the only San Jose State player in double-figures so far this year, with 18.4 PPG and 4.7 RPG to his name. Jaycee Hillsman isn’t too far off that threshold, though, with 8.4 PPG, while Keith Fisher is tops in rebounding for the Spartans on 5.9 RPG.
Over on the San Diego State side, they’re sitting at 10-4 on the season. The Aztecs have won their last two games versus Utah State and Colorado State. In that game, San Diego State’s Jalen McDaniels managed 19 points.
Heading up the scoring for Dan Diego State this year is Devin Watson on 13.1 PPG, and Malik Pope is second on 12.6 PPG and 7.6 RPG. Also in double-digits for the Aztecs are Trey Kell (11.4 PPG) and Matt Mitchel (10.4 PPG).
The Spartans are 4-1 ATS in their last five Tuesday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. San Jose State is also 1-6 ATS in their last seven versus the Mountain West and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games.
Meanwhile, the Aztecs are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight home games. San Diego State is also 1-4 ATS in their last five Tuesday games and the over is 4-0 in their last four Tuesday games.
San Jose State doesn’t do too many things well, but every once in a while they’ll come out of their collective shell, such as an overtime loss to UNLV back on Wednesday. San Diego State has a few weaknesses as well, but it doesn’t look like there’s much to trip them up here. I’ll take the Aztecs.
