The #8 Virginia Cavaliers look to move up the college basketball rankings with a win versus the Syracuse Orange.
The Syracuse Orange have had an outstanding season to date at 12-4 but the team has lost consecutive games following a 51-49 defeat to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as a 6.5 point favorite where the team lost a nine point first half lead. Syracuse leaned heavily on the production of Tyus Battle and he responded with a game high 21 points with three yanks on 8-15 from the floor and three long balls. The Orange received ten points each from Frank Howard and Oshae Brissett with Brissett hauling in eleven rebounds on 7-19 from the field.
The #8 Virginia Cavaliers have rattled off six straight victories and improved to 3-0 in the ACC with a 61-49 victory as a 4.5 point favorite. The defense first Cavaliers saw held the Tar Heels to just 21 second half points and limited a dangerous offense to 29.6% from the floor which made their own 45.3% accuracy a winning effort.
Virginia received 16 points and seven assists from Devon Hall on 6-8 from the floor including a 4-4 mark from beyond the arc. De’Andre Hunter gave the Cavaliers ten points and seven rebounds on 4-8 accuracy while Ty Jerome and Kyle Guy netted eight and seven points respectively while grabbing a combined six boards with seven assists.
