The 16th ranked TCU Horned Frogs dropped to 13-2 (1-2 Big 12) on the season after being defeated by the 10th ranked Kansas Jayhawks, 88-84, this past Saturday. TCU fought back from a 42-34 halftime deficit to tie the game at 75-all, however, the Horned Frogs couldn’t fight back after a 8-2 Jayhawks run gave Kansas a 83-77 lead with 1:12 left in regulation. TCU allowed Kansas to shoot 50.9% from the field and 55.0% (11-20) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Horned Frogs was Kenrich Williams who had a double-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal. On the season, TCU is averaging 86.9 ppg on 50.5% shooting from the field. The Horned Frogs are averaging 8.5 three-pointers per game on 40.3% shooting from beyond the arc. The Texas Longhorns dropped to 10-5 (1-2 Big-12) on the season after being defeated by the Baylor Bears, 69-60, this past Saturday. Texas went into halftime with a 40-38 lead, however, struggled offensively in the 2nd half and couldn’t secure the victory after being held scoreless over the last 5:08 of regulation. Texas shot 34.3% from the field and 30.8% (8-26) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Longhorns was Mohamed Bamba who had 15 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and 5 blocks. On the season, Texas is averaging 72.4 ppg on 43.9% shooting from the field. The Longhorns are averaging 6.6 three-pointers per game on 29.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Texas has been led by Dylan Osetkowski (15.0 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.1 spg), Andrew Jones (13.5 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.0 apg), Mohamed Bamba (11.9 ppg, 10.6 rpg, 4.6 bpg), and Kerwin Roach II (10.1 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.3 spg). Defensively, Texas is holding their opponents to an average of 63.7 ppg on 38.6% shooting from the field. The Longhorns have a rebound margin of 0.5 and a turnover margin of 2.7. Andrew Jones is currently questionable for this matchup due to an illness that forced him to miss the Longhorns last game.
The Horned Frogs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS loss. The Longhorns are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Wednesday games however, just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games.
TCU might have lost 2 of their last 3 games, however, this team could easily still be undefeated after nail batting losses to Oklahoma and Kansas and come into this matchup with one of the better offenses in the country that ranks 13th in scoring offense and 14th in FG%. Texas has one of the best freshmen in the country in Mohamed Bamba and although they can struggle a bit on the offensive end, the Longhorns have been outstanding defensively as they rank 24th in scoring defense, 9th in blocks per game, and 19th in FG%. TCU is a great team however, I think the Texas defense will be able to give the Longhorns some trouble in this one and as I think Texas will be able to score a little easier on the Horned Frogs 242nd ranked scoring defense, I’m taking Texas to cover this small home spread.
