We have some college basketball action out of the West Coast Conference on Thursday night, as the San Francisco Dons take on the Loyola Marymount Lions.
The San Francisco Dons will look to find some consistent play after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 8 games, including an 80-67 win over Pepperdine in their last outing. Jordan Rating led the team with 20 points on 7 of 12 shooting with 3 threes and a team-high 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Nate Renfro and Matt McCarthy tied for 2nd with 16 points apiece to round out the trio of Dons to score in double figures in the win, with Renfro shooting 6 of 9 with 3 triples and 5 rebounds, while McCarthy shot 7 of 9 with 5 boards as well as a team-high 5 assists. Foster leads the Dons with an average of 12 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, while Frankie Ferrari is the team’s top assist man with 3.1 assists per game this season. As a team, San Francisco is scoring 69.6 points per game on 40.9% shooting from the field, 31.5% from behind the arc and 72.5% from the foul line this season.

The Loyola Marymount Lions will look for their first conference win to snap a 6 game losing streak after an 85-66 loss to Gonzaga gave the Lions their 8th loss in their last 9 games. Steven Haney led the team with 22 points on 8 of 16 shooting with 5 triples, while James Batemon added 13 points with a team-high 8 assists as the only other Lion to score in double figures in the loss. Eli Scott, Jeffery McClendon and Zafir Williams tied for the team lead with 5 rebounds apiece, with Williams adding 9 points while McClendon chipped in 4 steals. Batemon leads LMU with an average of 17.4 points and 4.9 assists per game, while Scott is the team’s top rebounder with 7.2 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Loyola Marymount is scoring 74.7 points per game on 44.6% shooting from the field, 31.4% from behind the arc and 71.2% from the foul line this season.
San Francisco is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a win while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 conference matchups. Loyola Marymount is 0-4-2 ATS in their last 6 conference matchups and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 home games while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record. San Francisco is 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings between these two teams at Loyola Marymount.
This is one of the easier picks of the night in my opinion. Although the Dons haven’t been the most consistent team out there, they’re still finding ways to get the job done. One thing Loyola Marymount has done consistently lately is lose games and fail to cover in conference. Plus, the Dons have had the bulk of the success in the Lions’ backyard, so I’ll lay the points on the road with San Francisco here.
