Up at UIC Pavilion on Friday evening, the Milwaukee Panthers and the UIC Flames will be meeting up in college basketball action.

Milwaukee comes into this game with a 9-9 record so far. The Panthers have lost four of their last six games, most recently falling to IUPUI on Wednesday. In that game, Panthers guard Jeremiah Bell put up 21 points.

On the season, Brock Stull leads Milwaukee with 14.1 PPG and 4.7 RPG, while Bell has 13.5 PPG to his credit. They’re the only two Panthers players in double-digits, but Brett Praha is very close on 9.9 PPG and 5.7 RPG.

Over on the UIC side, they’re sitting at 7-10 on the year. The Flames have won their last two games over IUPUI and Green Bay. In that Green Bay game, UIC’s Dikembe Dixon put up 23 points to lead the team.

Dixson is the lead scorer for UIC this season as well with 14.2 PPG and 4.2 RPG. Also in the double-figures club for the Flames are Marcus Ottey (13.1 PPG) and Dominique Matthews (10.1 PPG).

Milwaukee is 1-4 ATS in the last five Friday games and 1-4 ATS in the last five road games. The Panthers are also 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last six versus the Horizon League.

Meanwhile, UIC is 3-1-1 ATS in their last five Friday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall. The under is 7-1 in the Flames’ last eight overall and 6-1 in their last seven Friday games.

Had they fared better in some of these close finishes, Milwaukee’s record could very well be a couple of games over .500 with the team trending upward. As it stands now though, the Panthers are just kind of “meh” overall. UIC is in something of the same boat, as they’ve had some frustrating finishes as well. All things considered, I like the Flames to manage a cover here.
