The Appalachian State Mountaineers need some consistency at both ends of the floor for their best chance of success and that didn’t happen in a 71-58 loss to the visiting Georgia State Panthers as a 2.5 point underdog on Thursday. A 26 point first half doomed Appalachian State who was outshot 47.5%-35.6% for a difference of seven field goals.

The Mountaineers were limited at the offensive end of the floor with Ronshad Shabazz leading the offense with 15 points and three yanks on 5-13 from the floor. Tyrell Johnson gave Appalachian State ten points and seven boards while Isaac Johnson tossing in nine points and hauling in ten rebounds.
The Georgia Southern Eagles haven’t gotten a whole lot of attention in the preseason polls but there has to be some eyes opening following a 4-1 start in the Sun Belt. Georgia Southern comes in off of a 77-66 victory at the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers as a 2.5 point road dog where a 21-12 edge at the stripe was decisive.
The Eagles received a contest high 22 points with three assists and three steals from Tookie Brown on 5-10 from the floor and 9-9 from the stripe. Ike Smith gave Georgia Southern 19 points and four assists on 7-19 while Montae Glenn added 17 points and seven rebounds on 6-6 accuracy.
