The Georgia State Panthers come into this one looking to build on a solid 3 game winning streak after a 71-58 win over Appalachian State on the road in their last outing. Jeff Thomas led the team with 22 points on 9 of 15 shooting with 3 threes, while Devin Mitchell came 2nd with 13 points. Jordan Session, D’Marcus Simonds and Isaiah Williams each added 11 points to finish off the double digit scoring for Georgia State in the win, with Session shooting 5 of 7 with 6 rebounds, while Simonds added 6 rebounds, a pair of steals and a team-high 5 assists. The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will still be looking for their first conference win of the year after losing 4 straight and 6 of 7 following a 77-66 loss to Georgia Southern in their last outing. Jaylen Shaw led the team with 21 points on 7 of 12 shooting with a perfect 6 for 6 mark from the foul line with a team-high 5 assists and a pair of steals. Zac Cuthbertson came 2nd with 15 points and a pair of steals, while Demario Beck added 11 points to finish off the trio of double digit scorers for the Chanticleers in the loss. Cuthbertson leads the team in scoring with 16.8 points per game, while Beck leads the way on the glass with 6.9 rebounds per game and Shaw is the team’s leading assist man with 5.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Coastal Carolina is scoring 75 points per game on 45.1% shooting from the field, 32.8% from behind the arc and 73% from the foul line this season.
Georgia State is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 conference matchups while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 road games against a team with a losing home record. Coastal Carolina is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 conference matchups while the over is 9-4 in their last 13 games following a loss.
I’m a little surprised to see the line as low as it is right now in all honesty. Sure, Coastal Carolina is at home and Georgia State hasn’t been impressive in conference, but they’ve at least won a conference game which is more than we can say for the Chanticleers at this point. Plus, Georgia State hasn’t been afraid to go on the road and cover, going 6-2 ATS away from home and since this line is almost a pick ‘em, I’ll lay the point with Georgia State to get the job done on the road.
