We have some SEC action on the hardwood as the South Carolina Gamecocks take on the Georgia Bulldogs in a college basketball matchup on Saturday afternoon.

USA TODAY Sports

The Georgia Bulldogs will look to bounce back after a 67-56 loss to Missouri in their last outing on Wednesday. William Jackson II and Tyree Crump were the only Georgia players to score in double figures, putting up 10 points apiece.  Jackson II went 4 of 8 shooting with a pair of threes, while Crump shot 4 for 7 with a pair of threes in just 13 minutes on the floor. Rayshaun Hammond added a team-high 6 rebounds, while Yante Maten added 9 points in the losing effort for the Dawgs. Maten leads the team in scoring and rebounding by averaging 19.3 points and 8.9 rebounds per game this season, while Jackson II leads the team in assists with 3.8 helpers per game this season. As a team, Georgia is scoring 71.7 points per game on 43.8% shooting from the field, 32.5% from behind the arc and 71.5% from the foul line this season.

South Carolina is 3-12 ATS in their last 15 conference matchups and 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games while the under is 39-16-1 in their last 56 road games. Georgia is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 conference matchups. South Carolina is 5-22 ATS in the last 27 meetings between these two teams and 3-13 ATS in the last 16 meetings at Georgia.

I was high on the Gamecocks earlier this season, and after how they’ve looked to start conference play, you can go ahead and throw that right out the window. The underdog may have covered the last 5 games in this matchup, but did you see South Carolina’s numbers against the Bulldogs? No thanks. Georgia is playing the better basketball between these two teams and are more than capable of covering this reasonable number, so I’ll lay the points with the Bulldogs here.
