Little Rock vs. Texas State - 1/13/18 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Little Rock Trojans snapped their 2-game losing streak and improved to 5-13 (2-3 Sun Belt) on the season after defeating the UT Arlington Mavericks, 77-65, this past Thursday night. Little Rock had one of their best overall performances of the season and pulled away in the 2nd half after taking a 66-50 lead with 6:19 left in regulation. Little Rock shot 39.1% from the field and 20.7% (6-29) from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Trojans was Andrew Jones who had 24 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assist, and 2 steals. On the season, Little Rock is averaging 64.2 ppg on 42.8% shooting from the field. The Trojans are averaging 6.4 three-pointers per game on 30.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Little Rock has been led by Andre Jones (11.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.2 apg), Anthony Black (8.3 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.1 spg), Ryan Pippins (8.1 ppg, 2.3 apg, 1.6 apg), and Oliver Black (6.6 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.3 apg). Defensively, Little Rock is holding their opponents to an average of 68.8 ppg on 30.5% shooting from the field. The Trojans have a rebound margin of -0.8 and a turnover margin of -0.1.

The Bobcats are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 road games and 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record. The Trojans are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win.

Texas State has won 6 of their last 7 games and is once again led by their defense that ranks 18th in scoring defense and 49th in rebound margin. Little Rock has struggled offensively this season, ranking just 338th in scoring offense and 269th in FG%, however, has been decent on the defensive end as the Trojans rank 97th in scoring defense. Little Rock is playing some of their best basketball of the season as of late, however, I just don’t think I can trust the Little Rock offense against the Texas State defense. I’m going take Texas State to cover this small road spread.
