The Loyola Marymount Lions snapped their 6-game losing streak and improved to 6-10 (1-4 WCC) on the season after defeating the San Francisco Dons, 67-65, this past Thursday. Loyola Marymount led by a 31-27 margin at halftime and pulled away late after an 8-2 Lions run gave Loyola Marymount a 62-56 lead with 1:55 left in regulation. Loyola Marymount shot 43.3% from the field and forced San Francisco into committing 17 turnovers in the victory. Leading the way for the Lions was Eli Scott who had 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. On the season, Loyola Marymount is averaging 74.3 ppg on 44.5% shoot from the field. The Lions are averaging 6.3 three-pointers per game on 31.8% shooting from beyond the arc. San Diego vs. Loyola Marymount - 1/13/18 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego Toreros lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 12-5 (3-2 WCC) on the season after being defeated by the Pacific Tigers, 74-70, this past Thursday night. San Diego made a late run to make it game, however, couldn’t fight back after the Toreros fell behind by a 61-50 margin with 1:32 left in regulation. San Diego committed 16 turnovers in the loss and couldn’t overcome the great FT-shooting of the Tigers, who finished the game 33 of 35 at the FT-line. Leading the way for the Toreros was Isaiah Pineiro who had 23 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal. On the season, San Diego is averaging 71.8 ppg on 44.8% shooting from the field. The Toreros are averaging 8.8 three-pointers per game on 36.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, San Diego has been led by Isaiah Pineiro (15.1 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.1 spg, 1.1 bpg), Isaiah Wright (14.9 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 5.5 apg, 1.4 spg), Olin Carter II (12.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 1.9 apg), and Tyler Williams (10.2 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.8 apg). Defensively, San Diego is holding their opponents to an average of 63.5 ppg on 37.6% shooting from the field. The Toreros have a rebound margin of 0.2 and a turnover margin of -0.4.

The Lions are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and just 1-4-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. WCC oppontents. The Toreros are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and just 3-10 ATS in their last 13 home games.

Loyola Marymount has lost 8 of their last 10 games and has struggled defensively on the season as the Lions rank just 295th in scoring defense and 328th in defensive FG%. San Diego has had a successful season with some wins this season, including beating a Colorado team that just beat Arizona and Arizona State on the road, and have been led by their defense that ranks 21st in scoring defense and 6th in defensive FG%. San Diego has been great on the defensive end and as I don’t think Isaiah Pineiro and Isaiah Wright will have any trouble scoring against the Lions defense, I’m taking San Diego to cover at home.
