Over at Thompson-Boling Arena on Saturday, the Texas A&M Aggies and the Tennessee Volunteers will be meeting up on the college basketball circuit.
The Aggies come in at 11-5 this year. After a hot start, Texas A&M has lost their last four straight games, most recently to Kentucky on Tuesday. In that one, Texas A&M center Tyler Davis put up 21 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Davis leads the Aggies in scoring on the year with 14.6 PPG and 8.2 RPG. Also in double-digits for Texas A&M are DJ Hogg with 14.0 PPG, Admon Gilder with 12.8 PPG and Duane Wilson with 12.2 PPG so far.
Over on the Tennessee side, they’re sitting at 11-4 this year. The Vols have won their last two games versus Kentucky and Vanderbilt. In the Commodores game, Tennessee’s Grant Williams put up 37 points.
Williams is atop the Volunteers stat sheet this year with 17.2 PPG and 6.8 RPG. Admiral Schofield (13.5 PPG; 5.9 RPG) and Jordan Bowden (10.6 PPG) are also in double-digits for Tennessee this season.
The Aggies are 2-5 ATS in the last seven games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five following a straight-up loss. Texas A&M is also 1-5 ATS in the last six versus the SEC and 0-4 ATS in the last four Saturday games.
Meanwhile, Tennessee is 4-1 ATS in the last five Saturday games and 4-1 ATS in the last five games overall. The Volunteers are also 5-2 ATS in the last seven games following a straight-up win and 1-4 ATS in their last five home games.
After a couple of scoreboard duds, the Aggies have been razor-close in their last two outings, losing by just one point in each. As for Tennessee, they’ve had some great wins this year, but also some ugly losses. The Volunteers are a little too unpredictable for me right now, so I like Texas A&M to scratch out a cover here.
