The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs dropped to 10-8 (1-4 C-USA) on the season after being defeated by the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, 72-57, this past Thursday night. Louisiana Tech struggled on the offensive end against the tough Middle Tennessee defense and couldn’t fight back after an 11-1 run gave the Blue Raiders a 72-55 lead with under a minute left in regulation. Louisiana Tech shot 36.8% from the field and 33.3% (6-18) from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Jacobi Boykins who had 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. On the season, Louisiana Tech is averaging 79.2 ppg on 46.3% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 8.2 three-pointers per game on 38.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Louisiana Tech has been led by DeQuan Bracey (15.3 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 4.9 apg, 1.1 spg), Jalen Harris (15.3 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.1 spg), Jacobi Boykins (14.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.2 spg), and Derric Jean (9.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.0 spg). The UAB Blazers won their 3rd consecutive game and improved to 12-5 (3-1 C-USA) on the season after defeating the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles, 86-75, this past Thursday. UAB was outstanding in the 1st half and had no trouble picking up the victory after taking a 46-27 lead at halftime. UAB shot 61.5% from the field and 47.1% (8-17) from beyond the arc in the win. Leading the way for the Blazers was Chris Cokley who had 18 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. On the season, UAB is averaging 79.8 ppg on 49.8% shooting from the field. The Blazers are averaging 7.1 three-pointers per game on 36.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UAB has been led by Chris Cokley (17.4 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 1.9 apg), Zack Bryant (14.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.9 apg), Nate Darling (10.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 2.6 apg), and Nick Norton (8.1 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 4.4 apg). Defensively, UAB has been holding their opponents to an average of 66.2 ppg on 41.0% shooting from the field. The Blazers have a rebound margin of 9.0 and a turnover margin of 0.5.
The Bulldogs are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Saturday games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Blazers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss.
Louisiana Tech has lost 4 of their last 5 games and although they have a solid offense that ranks 74th in scoring offense, the Bulldogs have struggled a bit defensively as they rank just 180th in scoring defense and 198th in defensive FG%. UAB has won 6 of their last 7 games and has been great on both ends of the court as the Blazers rank 69th in scoring offense and 49th in scoring defense. UAB is an impressive 9-1 at home this season and as I think their defense will gave the Bulldogs some trouble, I’m taking the Blazers to cover this home spread.
