USA TODAY Sports

The Hofstra Pride won their 2nd straight game and improved to 14-9 (7-4 CAA) on the season after defeating the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks, 96-76, this past Saturday. Hofstra had no issues finding ways to score the basketball in this one and easily pulled away for the victory after taking a 74-56 lead midway through the 2nd half. Hofstra shot 63.0% from the field and 64.7% (11-17) from beyond the arc in the win. Leading the way for the Pride was Eli Pemberton who had 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. On the season, Hofstra is averaging 78.6 ppg on 46.1% shooting from the field. The Pride are averaging 8.1 three-pointers per game on 37.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Hofstra has been led by Justin Wright-Foreman (25.1 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.0 apg), Eli Pemberton (15.4 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.3 apg), Rokas Gustys (10.2 ppg, 11.7 rpg, 1.6 apg), and Jalen Ray (5.7 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 1.1 apg). Defensively, Hofstra is allowing their opponents to average 77.1 ppg on 47.7% shooting from the field. The Pride have a rebound margin of 3.6 and a turnover margin of 0.3.

The Cougars are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record and 12-5-1 ATS in their last 18 Saturday games. The Pride are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 90 points in their previous game however, are just 15-37-1 ATS in their last 53 home games.

College of Charleston came into this season as the favorite to win the CAA this season and the Cougars look like they are starting to get things together as they just picked up a nice road victory at Northeastern and currently rank 30th in scoring defense and 70th in defensive FG%. Hofstra has won 5 of their last 7 games and has been led by their offense that currently ranks 68th in scoring offense, 106th in FG%, and 79th in 3P-FG%. Hofstra is 6-3 at home this season however, I really like how College of Charleston has played defensively over the past few weeks and as I think the Cougars offensive will have success against Hofstra’s 290th ranked defense, I’m taking College of Charleston and the points.
