Missouri State shot just 32.3% from the field and 17.4% (4-23) from beyond the arc in the loss. The Loyola-Chicago Ramblers had their 7-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 18-5 (8-3 MVC) on the season after being defeated by the Bradley Braves, 69-67, this past Wednesday. Bradley held a 60-49 lead with 6:12 left in regulation and although the Ramblers made a run to make it a one-possession game, Loyola-Chicago could get the come from behind victory after their game winning three-point attempt hit the back rim as time expired. Loyola-Chicago shot 44.9% from the field however, was outrebounded by the Braves by a 34-26 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Ramblers was Clayton Cluster who had 23 points, 1 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. On the season, Loyola-Chicago is averaging 72.4 ppg on 50.7% shooting from the field. The Ramblers are averaging 7.3 three-pointers per game on 41.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Loyola-Chicago has been led by Clayton Custer (13.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 4.0 apg, 1.7 spg), Donte Ingram (11.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.0 spg), Marques Townes (11.3 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.5 apg), and Cameron Krutwig (10.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.9 apg). Defensively, Loyola-Chicago is holding their opponents to an average of 62.8 ppg on 41.5% shooting from the field. The Ramblers have a rebound margin of 2.0 and a turnover margin of 0.4.
The Bears are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss and 0-8 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Ramblers are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games.
Missouri State has a solid defense that ranks 19th in scoring defense and 17th in defensive FG%, however, it’s been a struggle for the Bears recently as Missouri State has lost 6 of their last 8 games largely due to fact that their offense ranks just 282nd in scoring offense and 250th in FG%. Loyola-Chicago had their winning streak snapped on the road against the Braves, however, the Ramblers are still the team to beat in the MVC this season and come into this game ranked 9th in scoring defense, 10th in FG%, and 10th in 3P-FG%. Loyola-Chicago is 10-1 at home this season and as I just don’t see the Bears offense doing enough on the offensive end to keep up with the Ramblers in this one, I’m taking Loyola-Chicago to cover this spread at home.
