On Sunday out at Multipurpose Activity Center, the Niagara Purple Eagles will be taking on the Monmouth Hawks in college basketball activity.

Niagara enters this game with a 14-10 record overall. The Eagles had won seven of eight games, but then dropped their last one to Saint Peters. In that game, Niagara’s Matt Scott led the team on 16 points.

Heading up the scoring on the season for Niagara is Kahlil Dukes, with 20.6 PPG and 3.3 APG to his name. Scott is the only other Purple Eagles player in double-figures (20.5 PPG; 7.7 RPG), but Marvin Prochet has 9.4 PPG and 7.8 RPG.

As for Monmouth, they’re currently 7-15 on the season. The Hawks have lost their last two games, falling to Rider and Fairfield. In that Fairfield game Friday, Monmouth’s Zac Tillman managed 18 points.

Tops in scoring this year for Monmouth is Micah Seaborn, with 13.7 PPG and 3.6 RPG. Also in double-figures for the Hawks are Austin Tilghman (11.9 PPG; 6.0 RPG; 5.5 APG) and Deion Hammond (11.9 PPG).

Niagara is 5-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS loss and 7-2 ATS in their last nine road games. The Eagles are also 2-5 ATS in their last seven Sunday games and the under is 6-2 in their last eight overall.

Meanwhile, Monmouth is 4-12-1 ATS in their last 17 following a straight-up loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five Sunday games. The over is 7-2 in the Hawks’ last nine home games and 7-3 in their last 10 overall.

Niagara was on a pretty good run there for a while, but really came up limp versus Saint Peter’s, with just 52 points scored in the game. The last time these two teams met it was a real nail-biter, with Niagara coming out on top 78-77. I think Monmouth’s depth will serve them well here and carry the Hawks to a cover, but all in all it’s probably a game to stay away from.
