On Wednesday from Charles E. Smith Center, the La Salle Explorers and the George Washington Colonials will be meeting up in college basketball activity.
La Salle comes into this one with a 10-13 record overall. The Explorers have won two of the last three games, and took out Saint Joseph’s on Saturday. In that one, La Salle guard BJ Johnson managed 25 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Johnson is also the scoring leader for La Salle on the season with 21.4 PPG and 8.1 RPG. Also in double-digits for the Explorers are Pookie Powell (17.7 PPG) and Isiah Deas (10.5 PPG; 4.5 RPG).
Over on the George Washington side, they’re sitting at 9-14 this season. The Colonials have lost eight of their last nine games, including Saturday’s defeat by Davidson. In that game, George Washington’s Yuta Watanabe managed 20 points.
Watanabe is the top scorer on the season for the Colonials with 14.8 PPG and 6.1 RPG, while Jair Bolden has 11.7 PPG for second place. Also in double-figures for George Washington is Patrick Steeves with 10.4 PPG and 5.3 RPG.
The Explorers are 7-21 ATS in their last 28 road games and 1-7 ATS in their last eight Wednesday games. La Salle is also 1-8 ATS in their last nine games overall and 1-8 ATS in their last nine versus the Atlantic 10.
Meanwhile, George Washington is 2-6 ATS in their last eight Wednesday games and 1-7 ATS in their last eight following a straight-up loss. The Colonials are also 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four versus the Atlantic 10.
La Salle has been pretty good at scoring lately, aside from a couple of lulls here and there. The Explorers have have posted at least 74 in all but one of their last eight games. As for George Washington, they’ve scored 63 or fewer in three of their last four outings. I think the door is open here for a La Salle cover.
