Out at Baxter Arena on Thursday, the Western Illinois Leathernecks and the Omaha Mavericks will be matching up on the college basketball circuit.
Western Illinois comes in here with a 11-11 record overall. The Leathernecks had lost four games in a row but took a win over Oral Roberts on Saturday. In that game, Western Illinois guard Dalan Ancrum put up 25 points.
USA TODAY Sports
On the season, Kobe Webster is the leading Leathernecks scorer with 16.5 PPG, while Ancrum has 14.3 PPG and 5.4 RPG. Also in the double-digit club for Western Illinois is Brandon Eilbeck with 12.0 PPG and 7.6 RPG.
Over on the Omaha side, they’re currently 7-17 this season. The Mavericks have lost their last three straight games, and fell to South Dakota State on Tuesday. In that one, Omaha guard Zach Jackson logged 20 points.
Jackson also leads the Mavericks in scoring on the season with 18.2 PPG and 6.7 RPG. Also in double-digits for Omaha are Daniel Nori (12.8 PPG), Mitchell Hahn (11.1 PPG; 7.8 RPG; eight games), and JT Gibson (11.0 PPG).
Western Illinois is 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a straight-up win and 5-15-1 ATS in the last 21 games following an ATS win. The Leathernecks are also 0-5 ATS in their last five Thursday games and the over is 5-1 in their last six following a straight-up win.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks are 4-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 home games. Omaha is also 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS loss and the under is 8-3 in their last 11 home games.
During that four-game losing streak, the Leathernecks put up 70 points just once, and they haven’t cracked that mark in any of their last eight losses. The last game between these two teams was an 87-66 Omaha victory. I don’t think the outcome will be much different for the Mavericks at home, so I’ll take Omaha to cover.
