Out at Ryan Center on Friday, the Davidson Wildcats and the Rhode Island Rams will be matching up on the college basketball court.
Davidson comes in here with a 13-9 record overall. The Wildcats have won their last three games, most recently taking out Saint Joseph’s on Tuesday. In that one, Davidson forward Peyton Aldridge put up 32 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Aldridge is tops for Davidson on the season as well, averaging 20.2 PPG and 6.9 RPG. Also in double-figures for the Wildcats are Kellan Grady (16.1 PPG; 3.5 RPG) and Jon Axel Gudmundsson (14.6 PPG; 6.0 RPG; 5.0 APG).
Over on the Rhode Island side, they’re sitting at 19-3 this season. The Rams have won their last 14 straight games, and took out VCU last Friday. In that one, Rhode Island guard EC Matthews managed 18 points.
Jared Terrell is the top scorer for Rhode Island this year with 18.0 PPG. Matthews is the only other Rams player in double-digits (14.0 PPG), but Andre Berry and Stanford Robinson are close with 9.9 PPG apiece.
Davidson is 6-0-1 ATS in their last seven games following a straight-up win and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four road games. The Wildcats are also 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine games overall and 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine versus the Atlantic 10.
Meanwhile, the Rams are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 11-3 ATS in their last 14 versus the Atlantic 10. Rhode Island is also 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 games overall and 18-8-3 ATS in their last 29 Friday games.
After a couple of scoring lulls against Dayton and Richmond (127 combined points), Davidson has been hitting pretty well, with at least 84 points in each of their last three games. Rhode Island has been playing well offensively also, with at least 80 points in eight of their last 13 games. This should be a pretty entertaining matchup, and I think Davidson has the talent to cover here.
