Coming up Saturday from Palumbo Center, the Fordham Rams and the Duquesne Dukes will be meeting up in college basketball action.
Fordham comes into this one with an 8-15 record so far. The Rams have won two of their last three games, and took out George Mason on Wednesday. In that one, Fordham’s Prokop Slanina put up 17 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Will Tavares is the top Fordham scorer this year with 14.0 PPG and 5.4 RPG, while Slanina is sitting on 12.0 PPG and 5.2 RPG. Also in double-digits for the Rams is Joseph Chartouny with 11.1 PPG and 5.4 RPG with 4.4 APG.
Over on the Duquesne side, they’re currently 15-10 on the year. The Dukes have lost four of their last five, falling to Dayton on Wednesday. In that one, Duquesne guard Rene Castro-Caneddy put up 21 points.
Mike Lewis leads the Dukes with 15.6 PPG, and Eric Williams has 14.7 PPG and 9.1 RPG for second. Also in double-digits for Duquesne are Castro-Caneddy (13.6 PPG) and Tarin Smith (12.8 PPG).
Fordham is 1-4 ATS in the last five Saturday games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games. The Rams are also 1-4 ATS in their last five versus the Atlantic 10 and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games following a straight-up win.
Meanwhile, Duquesne is 6-0 ATS in their last six Saturday games and 4-0 ATS in the last four following an ATS loss. The Dukes are also 5-1 ATS in the last six games following a straight-up loss and 5-1 ATS in their last six home games.
Fordham’s record has ben pretty ugly lately, but they’ve had a couple of decent outings in their last few games. Still, the Rams have put up 50 points or fewer in four of the last nine. As for Duquesne, they’ve been scoring fairly well but still losing. The last time these teams met was a 64-41 Dukes win and I don’t see much being different here. I’ll take Duquesne.
