On Saturday from Hanner Fieldhouse, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns and the Georgia Southern Eagles will be meeting up on the college basketball court.
Louisiana is 20-4 on the season so far. The Ragin’ Cajuns had a 10-game winning streak broken by Georgia State on Thursday. In that one, Louisiana guard Frank Bartley put up 21 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Bartley is also the leading scorer for the Ragin’ Cajuns on the season, with 16.7 PPG. Also in double-digits for Louisiana are JaKeenan Gant (15.4 PPG; 6.3 RPG) and Bryce Washington (10.3 PPG; 10.6 RPG).
As for Georgia Southern, they’re currently 16-9 this year. The Eagles have lost their last two games, falling to UL Monroe on Thursday. In that most recent outing, Georgia Southern’s Ike Smith put up 15 points and seven rebounds.
Tookie Brown tops the stat sheet for Georgia Southern this year with 18.5 PPG and 4.2 APG. Also in double-digits for the Eagles are Mike Hughes (11.4 PPG; 4.9 RPG) and Smith (11.4 PPG: 4.6 RPG).
Louisiana is 6-0-1 ATS in their last seven Saturday games and 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Ragin’ Cajuns are also 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 versus the Sun Belt.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 2-5 ATS in the last seven overall and 2-5 ATS in the last seven versus the Sun Belt. Georgia Southern is also 3-8 ATS in the last 11 home games and 1-5 ATS in the last six Saturday games.
Louisiana was rolling along at a nice clip until that Thursday loss, but Georgia State is a very talented team. The Ragin’ Cajuns have still put up at least 80 points in four of their last five games. As for Georgia Southern, they’ve had a few nights with solid offensive output but on the whole have been underachieving lately. I’m going with Louisiana to cover here.
