The Omaha Mavericks snapped their 3-game losing streak and improved to 8-17 (3-6 Summit) on the season after defeating the Western Illinois Leathernecks, 71-68, this past Thursday. Omaha allowed Western Illinois to fight back after leading by a 66-59 margin with 2:35 left in regulation, however, was still able to secure the victory the Mavericks, Zach Johnson, made a jumper with 0:29 seconds remaining to put Omaha up for good.  Omaha shot 46.4% from the field and outrebounded Western Illinois by a 34-24 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Mavericks was Zach Johnson who had 25 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and a block. On the season, Omaha is averaging 77.2 ppg on 46.3% shooting from the field. The Mavericks are averaging 8.2 three-pointers per game on 36.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Omaha has been led by Zach Jackson (18.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.1 spg), Daniel Norl (12.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.6 apg), JT Gibson (11.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.0 spg), and KJ Robinson (9.6 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 3.0 apg). Defensively, Omaha is allowing their opponents to average 83.0 ppg on 47.3% shooting from the field. The Mavericks have a rebound margin of -2.1 and a turnover margin of -1.2.

The Mastodons are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 39-17-3 ATS in their last 59 Saturday games. The Mavericks are 15-6-1 ATS in their last 22 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.

Fort Wayne has won 3 of their last 5 games and have been led by their offense that ranks 34th in scoring offense, 143rd in FG%, and 28th in three-pointers made per game. Omaha picked up a much-needed win against Western Illinois, however, the Mavericks have struggled all season defensively and come into this game ranked just 341st in scoring defense, 315th in defensive FG%, and 272nd in turnover margin. Omaha can give up a bunch of points at any given time, however, the Mavericks were competitive in their 4-point loss at Fort Wayne earlier this season and as the Mastodons are just 3-9 on the road this season, I’m taking Omaha and the points in this one.
