The Line: Pacific Tigers -9 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

We have some West Coast Conference college basketball action late Saturday night, when the Portland Pilots take on the Pacific Tigers.

The Portland Pilots will be looking to bounce back after having their mini 2 game winning streak snapped thanks to a 65-63 loss to San Francisco in their last outing. Marcus Shaver led the Pilots as the only player to score in double figures in the loss with 22 points on 7 of 15 shooting with a 7 of 8 mark from the foul line with 7 rebounds. Franklin Porter added a team-high 3 assists while Philipp Hartwich added a team-high 11 rebounds and 3 blocks in the losing effort. Shaver leads the Pilots in scoring with 11.7 points per game while Hartwich leads the Pilots on the glass with 8.5 rebounds per game and JoJo Walker is Portland’s top assist man with 2.5 assists per game this season. As a team, Portland is scoring 70.5 points per game on 44.5% shooting from the field, 38.3% from behind the arc and 67% from the foul line this season.

The Pacific Tigers will try to rebound after having their own 2 game winning streak snapped with a 71-61 loss to Gonzaga in their last outing. Roberto Gallinat led Pacific with 15 points on 3 of 5 from behind the arc with a 6 of 7 mark from the foul line, while Miles Reynolds added 13 points and Kahlil Tripp added 12 points with team-highs of 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals in the losing effort to round out the trio of double digit scorers for Pacific. Namdi Okonkwo also chipped in 6 rebounds and a pair of blocks for the Tigers in the loss. Gallinat leads Pacific in scoring with 13.1 points per game while Tripp is the Tigers’ top assist man and rebounder with 4.1 assists and 7.7 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Pacific is scoring 71.9 points per game on 45.6% shooting from the field, 32.5% from behind the arc and 72% from the foul line this season.

Portland is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 conference matchups while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall. Pacific is 10-1-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall and 8-0 ATS in their last 8 home games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a double digit loss at home. Portland is 2-5 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

Both of these teams come into this one in some solid form ATS, so I’m not sure how good I feel laying nearly double digits with Pacific. However, the difference here to me lies in each team’s respective last game. Pacific lost (but covered) to a very good Gonzaga team that most would expect the Tigers to fall to, while Portland lost a winnable game against an average at-best San Francisco team. Add in the Pilots’ struggles ATS in this matchup and I give my lean to Pacific here.
