The UT-Arlington Mavericks will look to build on back-to-back conference wins, including an 87-80 triumph over Coastal Carolina in their last outing. Johnny Hamilton and Davion Turner tied for the team lead with 20 points apiece, with Hamilton going 8 of 9 from the floor with 13 rebounds for the double-double, while Turner shot 4 of 7 with 3 triples and a 9 of 12 mark from the foul line. Kevin Hervey added 15 points while Nathan Hawkins chipped in 11 points with a team-high 6 assists to round out the coring in double figures for UT-Arlington in the win, while Erick Neal chipped in 9 points, 4 assists and 5 steals in the win for the Mavericks. Hervey leads UT-Arlington with an average of 20.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game while Neal is the Mavericks’ top assist man with 7.2 assists per game this season. As a team, UT-Arlington is scoring 77.9 points per game on 45.4% shooting from the field, 35.8% from behind the arc and 67.2% from the foul line this season.
Texas State is 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 road games and 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning home record while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games overall. UT-Arlington is 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 home games and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games following a win while the over is 10-3 in their last 13 conference matchups. Texas State is 4-9 ATS in the last 13 meetings between these two teams.
This should be a solid game on Saturday. With that said, as good as Texas State has been on the road, UT-Arlington has been solid at home and have an extremely balanced team that can give the Bobcats headaches. Texas State has played well up to this point to be in the top third of the Sun Belt, but the Bobcats have fallen off lately, so I’ll give my edge to the Mavericks in a game that I see Arlington winning by double digits.
