Coming up early Sunday evening from State Farm Center, we’ve got Big Ten action on the schedule between the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Illinois Fighting Illini.

Penn State enters this one with a 17-9 record overall. The Nittany Lions have won four of their last five games, taking out Maryland on Wednesday. In that one, Penn State forward Lamar Stevens came up with 25 points.

Illinois vs. Penn State - 2/11/18 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

Tony Carr is the top scorer for the Lions this year with 19.3 PPG and 4.9 APG. Also in double-figures for Penn State are Stevens (15.7 PPG; 6.2 RPG), Mike Watkins (13.0 PPG; 9.7 RPG), Josh Reaves (10.9 PPG) and Shep Garner (10.0 PPG).

Over on the Illinois side, they’re sitting at 12-13 this season. The Illini have lost eight of their last 10 games, including Thursday’s defeat by Wisconsin. In that game, Illinois’ Trent Frazier led the team on 32 points.

Leron Black is the top Illinois scorer this season with 14.3 PPG and 5.4 RPG. Frazier is the only other Illini player in double-digits (12.5 PPG), but Michael Finke is fairly close on 9.6 PPG and 4.8 RPG.

The Nittany Lions are 4-1 ATS in the last five games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the Big Ten. Penn State is also 3-8 ATS in the last 11 following a straight-up win and the over is 4-1 in their last five road games.

Meanwhile, Illinois is 5-1 ATS in their last six Sunday games and 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS loss. The Illini are also 1-5 ATS in their last six home games and 0-4 ATS in their last four following a straight-up loss.

Aside from a 60-point dud versus Rutgers (which was still a win) and 68 points versus Michigan State, the Nittany Lions have been scoring pretty well over their last five games. As for Illinois, they started the season with some early promise but have just imploded in the 2018 calendar year. There’s no way I can go with the Illini here so I’m taking Penn State.
