Out at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Wednesday, the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Duke Blue Devils will be meeting up on the college basketball circuit.
Virginia Tech enters this game with an 18-7 record overall. The Hokies have won five of their last six games, most recently over Virginia on Saturday in OT. In that one, Virginia Tech guard Justin Robinson put up 20 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Robinson leads the Hokies in scoring on the year with 13.8 PPG and 5.7 APG, and Justin Bibbs is second with 13.6 PPG. Also in double-figures for Virginia Tech are Kerry Blackshear (13.0 PPG), Ahmed Hill (12.8 PPG) and Nickel Alexander-Walker (11.4 PPG).
Over on the Duke side, they’re currently 20-5 right now. The Blue Devils had lost three of four games but won their last outing at Georgia Tech. In that game, Duke guard Grayson Allen managed 23 points.
marvin Bagley is the top Blue Devils scorer with 21.2 PPG and 11.4 RPG, and Gary Trent is second on 15.1 PPG. Allen is also in double-digits for the Blue Devils (14.6 PPG) , as are Wendell Carter (14.4 PPG; 9.4 RPG) and Trevon Duval (11.1 PPG).
Virginia Tech is 6-1 ATS in their last seven Wednesday games and 5-1 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Hokies are also 5-1 ATS in their last six versus the ACC and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games.
Meanwhile, Duke is 4-0 ATS in their last four Wednesday games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games following an ATS win. The over is 9-3 in the Blue Devils’ last 12 games following an ATS win and 17-7 in their last 24 overall.
Virginia Tech has been on a tear lately, taking out two ranked teams in their last six games and scoring at least 80 points in four of those outings. Duke’s not looking exactly dominant right now, and they’ve lost three of their last five. The line is pretty inviting, so I’m going with Virginia Tech to stay hot here and cover.
