Out at Rose Hill Gym on Wednesday, the Saint Joseph’s Hawks and the Fordham Rams will be meeting up on the college basketball court.
Saint Joseph’s comes in here with a 10-14 record overall. The Hawks had lost five games in a row before beating Massachusetts their last time out. Saint Joseph’s forward Taylor Funk scored 22 points in that one.
USA TODAY Sports
Heading up the scoring for the Hawks this year is James Demery with 17.3 PPG and 5.6 RPG. Also in double-figures for Saint Joseph’s are Shavar Newkirk (17.1 PPG; 4.5 RPG) and Funk (12.5 PPG; 4.3 RPG).
Over on the Fordham side, they’re currently 9-15 this season. The Rams have won three of their last four games, taking out Duquesne in their last outing Saturday. In that game, Fordham forward Ivan Raut put up a career-high 25 points.
Will Tavares is the top scorer for the Rams this year on 14.0 PPG and 5.6 RPG, and Prokop Slanina is second on 12.0 PPG and 5.5 RPG. Also in double-figures for Fordham this season is Joseph Chartouny with 11.1 PPG and 5.4 RPG with 4.4 APG.
The Hawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five following a straight-up win and 5-2 ATS in their last seven versus the Atlantic 10. St. Joseph’s is also 4-9 ATS in their last 13 following an ATS win and 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games.
Meanwhile, the Rams are 2-5 ATS in their last seven Wednesday games and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 versus the Atlantic 10. Fordham is also 6-16 ATS in their last 22 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five home games.
Before dumping 85 points on UMass, Saint Joseph’s had been in a bit of a scoring rut with 62 or fewer in three games out of four. The last time these two teams met, Saint Joseph’s secured a 68-46 win in a home game. Fordham is a better team than that, however, so I’ll take the Rams to cover here.
