We have some West Coast conference action on the college basketball slate Thursday night as the Loyola Marymount Lions take on the #9 Gonzaga Bulldogs.

The Loyola Marymount Lions will look to build some momentum with a huge road win after an 85-79 win over Pepperdine in their last outing. Steven Haney led the Lions with 31 points on 8 of 15 shooting with a 6 of 11 mark from the foul line with a perfect 9 of 9 mark from the foul line. Mattias Markusson came 2nd with 16 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double, while James Batemon and Cameron Allen each added 13 points to round out the scoring in double figures for the Lions in the win. Batemon added a team-high 10 assists while Allen added a pair of steals in the winning effort. Batemon leads Loyola Marymount with an average of 16.9 points and 5 assists per game while Eli Scott is the Lions’ top rebounder with 7.3 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Loyola Marymount is scoring 73.2 points per game on 44.6% shooting from the field, 34.1% from behind the arc and 70.2% from the foul line this season.

The #9 Gonzaga Bulldogs will look to add to their current 7 game winning streak following a 78-65 win over Saint Mary’s in their last outing. Rui Hachimura led Gonzaga with 23 points on 10 of 14 shooting, while Zach Norvell Jr. came 2nd with 15 points and 3 steals. Josh Perkins added 13 points with a team-high 5 assists while Johnathan Williams added 12 points with a team-high 11 rebounds for the double-double to round out the quartet of double digit scorers for the ‘Zags in the loss. Williams leads Gonzaga with an average of 13.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game while Perkins is the Bulldogs’ top assist man with 5.2 assists per game this season. As a team, Gonzaga is scoring the 6th-most points per game in the country with 85.7 points per game on 50% shooting from the field, 35.7% from behind the arc and 72.9% from the foul line this season.

Loyola Marymount is 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games following a win and 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 road games against a team with a winning home record while the over is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games overall. Gonzaga is 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games while the under is 8-3 in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record. Loyola-Marymount is 0-5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams and 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings at Gonzaga.

I’ve been the first to stamp fade all over Gonzaga ATS as of late, considering that Gonzaga has been brutal ATS over the last month. However, they did cover against St. Mary’s in their last outing, and if there’s one team that the ‘Zags can use to turn their fortunes ATS around against, it’s the Lions, who have lost by double digits in each of the last 10 meetings between the two teams, with 5 of those coming by 20+ points and a 30-point win on the road for Gonzaga last season. The Lions just can’t hang here and although I’m a bit weary laying this many points, I see laying the points with Gonzaga as the only option here.
