The Line: Rice Owls +7 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

Coming up from Tudor Fieldhouse on Thursday, the Marshall Thundering Herd and the Rice Owls will be meeting up on the college basketball circuit.

The Herd come into this matchup at 17-8 on the season. Marshall has won their last three straight games, most recently against FAU on Saturday. In that game, Herd guard Jon Elmore managed 22 points.

Elmore also leads Marshall on the season in scoring with 22.0 PPG, 6.0 RPG and 7.1 APG. Also in double-digits for the Herd are CJ Burks (20.6 PPG), Ajdin Penava (16.7 PPG; 9.1 RPG) and Rondale Watson (10.3 PPG; 14 games).

Over on the Rice side, they’re sitting at 5-20 this season. The Owls have lost their last four straight games, and fell to UAB on Saturday. In that one, Rice guards Bishop Mency and Ako Adams each had 15 points.

Connor Cashaw is the top scorer for the Owls this season on 15.9 PPG and 6.9 RPG. Also in double-figures for Rice is Adams (10.3 PPG), while Mency isn’t too far off with 8.1 PPG and 4.8 RPG to his name.

Marshall is 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The Herd are also 11-5 ATS in their last 16 versus CUSA and the under is 5-0 in the Herd’s last five overall.

Meanwhile, the Owls are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a straight-up loss and 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games overall. Rice is also 4-0-1 ATS in their last five versus Conference USA and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five home games.

Marshall has been on a nice scoring run this year, and they haven scored at least 70 points in every single game. The Herd are prone to giving up quite a few points here and there, but I don’t think they have much to worry about from Rice’s offense. I’ll take Marshall.
