The Butler Bulldogs lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 17-10 (7-7 Big East) on the season after being defeated by the Georgetown Hoyas, 87-83, this past Tuesday. Butler had no answers for Marcus Derrickson and the Hoyas offense and couldn’t fight back after Georgetown took a 79-65 lead with 5:59 left in regulation. Butler allowed Georgetown to shoot 58.8% from the field and 47.1% (8-17) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Kamar Baldwin who had 16 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 block, and 3 steals. On the season, Butler is averaging 80.3 ppg on 47.7% shooting from the field. The Friars are 10-3 ATS in their last 10 Saturday games however, just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS win. The Bulldogs are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 home games.
Providence bounced back nicely from their 17-point lost to DePaul to upset Villanova at home and come into the game as a balanced team that ranks 143rd in scoring offense and 182nd in scoring defense. Butler has been led by their offense this season as they rank 46th in scoring offense and FG%, however, the Bulldogs have really struggled defensively as of late as during their 3-game losing streak the Bulldogs are allowing their opponents 90.4 ppg. Butler is coming off their worst game at home this season, however, as I think Butler will come into this matchup with a little extra motivation knowing that they need a win to help their NCAA chances, I think the Bulldogs get back on track in this one and cover this home spread.
