Chattanooga vs. Wofford - 2/17/18 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Chattanooga Mocs lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 9-19 (3-12 Southern) on the season after being defeated by the Furman Paladins, 75-56, this past Thursday. Chattanooga struggled on the offensive end throughout the game and couldn’t fight back after Furman took a 59-35 lead with 11:28 left in regulation. Furman held Chattanooga to 33.3% shooting from the field and 10.5% (2-19) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Mocs was Joshua Phillips who had 16 points, 13 rebounds, and a steal. On the season, Chattanooga is averaging 70.0 ppg on 43.8% shooting from the field. Offensively, Chattanooga has been led by Nat Dixon (14.5 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.0 spg), Makinde London (13.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 1.8 apg), Rodney Chatman (13.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 4.6 apg, 1.2 spg), and Joshua Phillips (9.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg). Defensively, Chattanooga is allowing their opponents to average 73.4 ppg on 47.8% shooting from the field. The Mocs have a rebound margin of -1.6 and a turnover margin of -0.4.

The Terriers are 16-7 ATS in their last 23 road games vs. a team with a winning home record however, are just 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS win. The Mocs are 6-14 ATS in their last 20 games following a straight up loss and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.

The Wofford Terriers have won 2 of their last 3 games and has been led by their offense this season as the Terriers currently rank T-96th in scoring offense, 54th in FG%, and 7th in 3P-FG%. Chattanooga has lost 4 of their last 5 games and has struggled on both ends of the court as the Mocs currently rank 269th in scoring offense, 220th in FG%, and 324th in defensive FG%. Wofford is the better team in this one, however, Chattanooga is a respectable 8-7 at home this season and as the Mocs were able to contain the Terriers offense in their 71-67 loss on the road, I think the Mocs will be able to do enough at home to cover with the points.
