The Davidson Wildcats improved to 14-10 (9-4 A-10) on the season after defeating the VCU Rams, 74-63, this past Wednesday. Davidson was outstanding on the offensively end in the 2nd half and led by double-digits for most of the 2nd half after a starting the 2nd half on a 16-5 run. Davidson shot 46.3% from the field and 93.3% (14-15) from the FT-Line in the victory. Leading the way for the Wildcats was Peyton Aldridge who had a double-double with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists. On the season, Davidson is averaging 75.9 ppg on 47.8% shooting from the field. The Wildcats are averaging 11.0 three-pointers per game on 38.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Davidson has been led by Peyton Aldridge (20.1 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.7 apg), Kellan Grady (16.4 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.0 apg), Jon Axel Gudmundsson (14.2 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.0 apg, 1.5 spg), and KiShawn Pritchett (6.6 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.7 apg). Defensively, Davidson is holding their opponents to average 67.0 ppg on 44.3% shooting from the field. The Wildcats have a rebound margin of 1.1 and a turnover margin of 1.6.
The Minutemen are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games. The Wildcats are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a straight up win and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 games.
The UMass Minutemen have lost 7 of their last 8 games and has really struggled defensively as the Minutemen currently rank just 215th in scoring defense and have let their last 6 opponents score at least 80+ points against them. Davidson has won 4 of their last 5 games and although their offense still can light it up from beyond the arc, the Wildcats have also been decent on the defensive end this year as they currently rank 50th in scoring defense. UMass has been really hurt by injuries and basically have no depth on their team currently as evident by the fact that they had to suit up the UMass backup QB last game and as I think the Davidson offense will have no problems scoring 80-90 points in this one, I’m taking Davidson to cover this spread.
