We have some Big Ten action on the hardwood as the Indiana Hoosiers battle the Iowa Hawkeyes in a college basketball matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The Indiana Hoosiers will look to build on a solid 3 game winning streak following their 78-68 win over Illinois last time out. Juwan Morgan, Robert Johnson and Aljami Durham tied for the team-lead with 14 points, with Morgan adding 10 rebounds, 4 steals and 5 blocks for an impressive stat line and a double-double, while Johnson dished out a team-high 4 assists and Durham shot 5 of 6 from the floor with a pair of threes. Justin Smith added 13 points in as many minutes on 5 of 7 shooting, while Josh Newkirk added 11 points to round out the double digit scoring for the Hoosiers in the win. Morgan leads Indiana with an average of 16.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game while Newkirk leads the Hoosiers in assists with 2.7 assists per game this season. As a team, Indiana is scoring 71.9 points per game on 45.6% shooting from the field, 31.3% from behind the arc and 65% from the foul line this season.

The Iowa Hawkeyes really need a win here after losing 4 straight following their 74-59 road loss to Michigan in their last outing. Luka Garza led Iowa with 22 points on 10 of 16 shooting while Isaiah Moss added 12 points and Tyler Cook added 10 points with a team-high 8 rebounds to finish off the trio of double digit scorers for the Hawkeyes in the loss. Jordan Bohannon added 7 points while dishing out a team-high 5 assists in the losing effort for Iowa. Cook leads the Hawkeyes with an average of 15.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while Bohannon is Iowa’s leader in assists with 5.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Iowa is scoring 79.4 points per game on 47.8% shooting from the field, 37.6% from behind the arc and 68.7% from the foul line this season.
Indiana is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 13-2-1 in their last 16 conference matchups. Iowa is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall and 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 home games while the over is 9-4 in their last 13 conference matchups. Indiana is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
There’s no arguing that Indiana has had their struggles on the road this season. However, this is a pretty low line considering the form of both teams coming into this one, as Indiana has been picking up steam at the right time, while Iowa continues to sputter and if it weren’t for Illinois stinking up the joint, the Hawkeyes would be sitting in the cellar of the Big Ten standings. All in all, given the Hoosiers’ success ATS in this matchup, I think the best bet here is to lay the bucket with Indiana on the road.
