Coming up from the Betty on Saturday, the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks will be taking on the North Dakota Fighting Hawks in college basketball action.
Northern Arizona enters this one with a 4-22 record overall. The Lumberjacks have lost their last five straight games, falling most recently to Northern Colorado on Thursday. In that one, Lumberjacks guard Jojo Anderson put up 15 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Anderson is the leading scorer for Northern Arizona this year on 12.1 PPG and 2.3 APG. The only other Lumberjacks player averaging in double-figures is Torry Johnson with 10.9 PPG and 2.0 RPG.
As for North Dakota, they’re currently 9-17 this year. The Hawks had lost six of seven games, but took out Southern Utah on Thursday. In that game, North Dakota guard Geno Crandall put up 17 points.
Crandall is the top scorer for North Dakota this year with 16.0 PPG, and Marlon Stewart is second with 11.6 PPG. Also in the double-digit club for the Hawks are Dale Jones (11.2 PPG; 6.6 RPG), Conner Avants (10.8 PPG) and Cortez Seales (10.5 PPG).
Northern Arizona is 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight following an ATS loss and 4-1-1 ATS in the last six Saturday games. The Lumberjacks are also 3-1-1 ATS in their last five road games and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four overall.
Meanwhile, the Hawks are 13-6-1 ATS in the last 20 Saturday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall. North Dakota is also 2-5 ATS in their last seven versus the Big Sky and 3-10-1 ATS in their last 14 following an ATS loss.
The Lumberjacks had a decent little scoring run back in January—although they were still losing the games—but have reverted to form lately with 64 or fewer scored in each of their last five. North Dakota’s fortunes haven’t been much better in the win column, but their offense is much deeper. I’ll take the Hawks here.
