Houston shot 48.0% from the field and outrebounded Cincinnati by a 36-27 margin in the win. The Temple Owls had their 5-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 15-11 (7-7 AAC) on the season after being defeated by the 19th ranked Wichita State Shockers, 93-86, this past Thursday. Temple came out of the gates hot in this one and held a 56-42 halftime lead, however, struggled on both ends of the court in the 2nd half and couldn’t pull out the victory after the Shockers took an 88-84 lead with just 0:31 seconds left in regulation. Temple allowed Wichita State to shoot 56.4% from the field and was outrebounded by the Shockers by a 34-25 margin. Leading the way for the Owls was Obi Enechionyia who had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and a block. On the season, Temple is averaging 70.4 ppg on 42.7% shooting from the field. The Owls are averaging 8.3 three-pointers per game on 35.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Temple has been led by Quinton Rose (14.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.7 spg), Shizz Alston Jr. (13.5 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.0 apg), Obi Enechionyia (11.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.6 bpg), and Josh Brown (9.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 3.5 apg). Defensively, Temple is allowing their opponents to average 69.7 ppg on 44.3% shooting from the field. The Owls have a rebound margin of -3.6 and a turnover margin of 1.8.
The Cougars are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Sunday games. The Owls are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win and 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
Houston continued their outstanding season with their victory over Cincinnati and has been outstanding on both sides of the ball this season as the Cougars come into this matchup ranked 103rd in scoring offense, 21st in scoring defense, and 6th in defensive FG%. Temple couldn’t pull out the upset victory on the road against Wichita State, however, the Owls are a very dangerous team that had been led by their defense that ranks 112th in scoring defense and 71st in turnover margin. Temple has been a bit inconsistent this season, however the Owls have the talent to beat anyone as they’ve shown with their wins over Auburn and Clemson and as Houston is just 4-4 on the road this season and should have a tough time matching the energy level they brought to their recent game in Cincinnati, I think the Owls do enough at home to pick up a win. Take Temple in this one.
