Up at the UIC Pavilion on Monday, the Detroit Mercy Titans and the UIC Flames will be matching up on the college basketball court.
Detroit enters this one with an 8-20 record overall. The Titans had lost seven of eight games, but managed a win over Youngstown State on Friday. In that one, Detroit guard Kameron Chatman put up 26 points.

Chatman is also the leading scorer on the season for Detroit with 18.0 PPG and 8.6 RPG. Also in double-figures for the Titans are Corey Allen (14.9 PPG), Jermaine Jackson (11.5 PPG) and Josh McFolley (10.1 PPG).
Over on the UIC side, they’re sitting at 16-12 this year. The Flames have won eight of their last nine games, most recently over Green Bay on Friday. In that one, UIC forward Dikembe Dixson managed 18 points.
Dixson also leads the Flames on the season with 13.9 PPG, while Marcus Ottey has 13.4 PPG. They’re the only UIC players in double-figures, but Tai Odiase isn’t too far off that pace with 9.4 PPG and 5.9 RPG.
The Titans are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 Monday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games versus a team with a winning home record. Detroit is also 0-8 in their last eight games following an ATS win and the under is 6-1 in their last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the Flames are 8-1 ATS in their last nine games overall and 8-1 ATS in their last nine versus the Horizon League. UIC is also 6-1 ATS in their last seven following an ATS win and 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games.
Detroit has a decent offense, so it’s a little puzzling that they’ve come up with such weak scoring performances at times this year. The Titans have put up at least 72 points in each of their last three games, but they’ve also allowed at least 75 in each as well. UIC took a win 78-69 the last time these teams met, but I think Detroit can get closer here. It seems a lot of other people share that sentiment because the line on this game is flipping fast in favor of the Titans.
