We have some SEC action on the hardwood as the Vanderbilt Commodores battle the LSU Tigers in a college basketball matchup on Tuesday night.
The Vanderbilt Commodores will look to build some steam after back-to-back wins, including a 71-68 win over Florida in their last outing. Jeff Roberson led Vandy with 26 points on 6 of 11 shooting with a perfect 12 of 12 mark from the foul line along with a team-high 7 rebounds, while Riley LaChance added 21 points on 7 of 12 shooting with a pair of threes and a team-high 5 assists and Joe Toye added 13 points on 4 of 7 shooting with 3 threes to round out the scoring in double figures for Vanderbilt in the win. Roberson leads Vandy with an average of 16.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while LaChance leads the Commodores in assists with 3.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Vanderbilt is scoring 72.1 points per game on 43.4% shooting from the field, 33.8% from behind the arc and 74.7% from the foul line this season.

The LSU Tigers will look to find some measure of consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 6 games and splitting their last 8 games following a 64-63 win over Missouri in their last outing. Tremont Waters led LSU with 21 points on 8 of 16 shooting with a share of the team-high with 4 assists, while Aaron Epps added 12 points and a team-high 9 rebounds and Skylar Mays added 10 points with 4 assists of his own to round out the trio of double digit scorers for LSU in the win. Waters leads the Tigers with an average of 14.7 points and 5.8 assists per game, while Epps is LSU’s top rebounder with 6 boards per game this season. As a team, LSU is scoring 77.1 points per game on 47.6% shooting from the field, 34.8% from behind the arc and 74.2% from the foul line this season.
Vanderbilt is 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games and 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games overall while the under is 20-6 in their last 26 games following a win. LSU is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games following a win. Vanderbilt is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams at LSU.
The Commodores have had the bulk of the success over the last few years when playing in the Tigers’ backyard, however those past Commodores teams are better than this one in my opinion, and although Vanderbilt put forth some solid wins in their last couple of outings, the fact is that Vanderbilt’s road struggles this season are well documented as the ‘Dores are winless and just 3-6 ATS away from home this season. LSU got past an underrated Missouri team in their last outing and have taken down some very good competition at home lately, so I’ll lay the points with LSU in this spot.
