Coming up from Breslin Center on Tuesday, the Illinois Fighting Illini and the Michigan State Spartans will be meeting up on the college basketball circuit.

Illinois comes into this game with a 13-15 record overall. The Illini had lost 10 games in a 12-game stretch, but managed to beat Nebraska on Sunday. In that game, Illinois forward Leron Black put up 28 points.

Black leads the way for Illinois in scoring on the year as well with 15.1 PPG and 5.5 RPG. Also in double-figures for the Fighting Illini is Trent Frazier (12.3 PPG), and Kipper Nichols is close on 9.8 PPG.

Over on the Michigan State side, they’re currently 26-3 this season. The Spartans have won their last 10 straight games, most recently taking out Northwestern on Saturday. In that game, Michigan State guard Cassius Winston put up 17 points.

Miles Bridges is the leading Spartans scorer on 17.0 PPG and 6.9 RPG, while Nick Ward has 13.1 PPG and 7.6 RPG. Also in double-figures for Michigan State are Joshua Langford (12.3 PPG), Winston (12.3 PPG) and Jaren Jackson (11.6 PPG).

The Fighting Illini are 4-1 ATS in their last five Tuesday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win. the under is 5-1 in Illinois’ last six Tuesday games, and 28-11-1 in their last 40 overall.

Meanwhile, the Spartans are 21-8-1 ATS in their last 30 home games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven Tuesday games. Michigan State is also 1-5-2 ATS in their last eight games overall and 1-5-2 ATS in their last eight versus the Big Ten.

Michigan State was down a whopping 27 points in the Northwestern game, but battled back for a five-point win. Still, it’s a little concerning that the Spartans have scored 68 points or fewer in three of their last five games. I think we’ll see a pretty big points total from Michigan State here against a bad Illinois team at home. I’ll take the Spartans.
