The Line: Ohio State Buckeyes -14 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

We have some Big Ten college basketball action on the slate Tuesday evening as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights battle the #8 Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will be looking for a road win to turn things around after losing 13 of their last 16 games following a 61-51 road loss to Maryland in their last outing. Eugene Omoruyi led Rutgers as the only double digit scorer in the loss, with 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting with 6 rebounds in 21 minutes. DeShawn Freeman added 7 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, while Candido Sa added 3 steals. Corey Sanders went just 3 of 14 from the field, but still leads the Scarlet Knights in scoring this season with 14.2 points and 3.1 assists per game this season while Freeman leads Rutgers in rebounding with 7.6 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Rutgers is scoring 65 points per game on 39.9% shooting from the field, 28.8% from behind the arc and 63.8% from the foul line this season.

Ohio State vs. Rutgers - 2/20/18 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The #8 Ohio State Buckeyes will be looking to rebound after back-to-back conference losses, including a 74-62 setback at the hands of Michigan in their last outing. Jae’Sean Tate led the Buckeyes with 20 points on 9 of 14 shooting with a game-high 15 rebounds for the double-double, while Keita Bates-Diop added 17 points on 5 of 17 shooting with 3 threes and a pair of blocks as the only other Ohio State player to score in double digits in the loss. Andre Wesson also chipped in 8 points with a team-high 3 assists, while Kaleb Wesson chipped in 8 points of his own in the losing effort. Bates-Diop leads Ohio State with an average of 19.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game while C.J. Jackson is the Buckeyes’ top assist man with 3.9 assists per game this season. As a team, Ohio State is scoring 75.8 points per game on 48.4% shooting from the field, 35.3% from behind the arc and 73% from the foul line this season.

Rutgers is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and 20-43 ATS in their last 63 games following a loss while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600. Ohio State is 11-5 ATS in their last 16 conference matchups and 3-12 ATS in their last 15 home games against a team with a losing road record while the under is 21-7 in their last 28 games overall.

If it was anyone else on the other side of the floor, I would probably avoid laying points with the Buckeyes given how porous the defense has looked over the last couple of games. However, the thought of backing Rutgers on the road is frightening, as the Scarlet Knights are just flat out horrendous away from home. I’ll lay the points with Ohio State here as more of a fade from Rutgers than anything else.
