On Tuesday from Athletics-Recreation Center, the Northern Iowa Panthers and the Valparaiso Crusaders will be matching up on the college basketball court.
Northern Iowa enters this one with a 13-15 record overall. The Panthers have lost two of their last three, including Saturday’s game at Illinois State. In that defeat, Northern Iowa’s Klint Carlson put up 20 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Bennett Koch is the lead scorer for the Panthers this season on 12.2 PG and 6.0 RPG. He’s the only one in double-figures for Northern Iowa, but Carlson is very close to that threshold on 9.9 PPG and 5.8 RPG.
As for Valparaiso, they’re currently 14-15 this season. The Crusaders have won two of their last three games, and took out Bradley on Saturday. In that game, Valparaiso guard Markus Golder logged 16 points.
Tops in scoring for Valparaiso this season is Tvvonn Walker with 14.6 PPG, and Bakari Evelyn is second with 12.6 PPG. They’re the only two current Crusaders players in double-figures, but Golder is close on 9.1 PPG.
The Panthers are 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine Tuesday games and 15-34-2 ATS in the last 51 games overall. Northern Iowa is also 4-15-2 ATS in their last 21 versus the Missouri Valley and 4-17-1 ATS in their last 22 road games.
Meanwhile, the Crusaders are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six overall and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six versus the Missouri Valley. Valparaiso is also 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games and the under is 6-1 in their last seven Tuesday games.
Northern Iowa has been pretty unpredictable lately, which has been a calling card of theirs for most of the year. The Panthers put up just 47 points versus Evansville and won, then logged 75 versus Illinois State and lost. The last time these two teams met, Northern Iowa put up an 81-76 home win. I think Valparaiso will get some revenge here though, so I’ll take the Crusaders.
