The St. John’s Red Storm face Big East rival the Marquette Golden Eagles in Wednesday college basketball action.
The St. John’s Red Storm had not been able to buy a conference win until suddenly ripping off four straight victories capped off by a 77-76 decision at DePaul. St. John’s held a 48.3%-43.9% shooting edge including a 12-24 effort on threes which was decisive.

The Red Storm received a contest high 26 points and ten assists from Shamorie Ponds on 10-18 including 4-8 on long balls. Marvin Clark II gave St. John’s 24 points and five pulls on 8-15 and 5-9 on threes while Justin Simon tossed in 16 points on 6-11.
The Marquette Golden Eagles biggest issue has been an inability to string together wins. Marquette has won two of three after a 90-86 win at Creighton. Both teams sank shots at 56% with Marquette totaling seven more looks which was decisive.
Sacar Anim carried the Golden Eagles with 26 points followed by Andrew Rowsey with 21 points, five pulls and eight helpers. Marquette received 15 points and eight rebounds from Sam Hauser while Greg Elliott added ten points and five pulls.
