Coming up Wednesday evening from Gallagher Center, the Canisius Golden Griffins and the Niagara Purple Eagles will be meeting up on the college basketball court.

Canisius enters this game with a 19-10 record overall. The Griffins had won six straight games, but then fell on Sunday to Rider. In that matchup, Canisius forward Jermaine Crumpton put up 24 points.

Crumpton is also the leading scorer for the Griffins on the year with 17.1 PPG and 5.3 RPG. Also in double-figures for Canisius are Isaiah Reese (16.4 PPG; 5.9 RPG) and Tikal Molson (12.2 PPG).

Over on the Niagara side, they’re sitting at 18-11 on the season. The Eagles had won four straight games but dropped their last one to Manhattan on Sunday. In that game, Niagara’s Kahlil Dukes put up 20 points.

Dukes is tops in scoring for the Eagles on the season with 20.8 PPG, and Matt Scott is sitting on 19.5 PPG and 7.4 RPG. Also in double-figures for Niagara is Marvin Prochet with 10.3 PPG and 7.7 RPG.

The Griffins are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six overall. Canisius is also 5-1 ATS in their last six versus the Metro Atlantic Athletic and 13-4 ATS in their last 17 Wednesday games.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following an ATS loss and 4-0 ATS in their last four home games. Niagara is also 5-1 ATS in their last six following a straight-up loss and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.

Canisius was on a pretty good defensive run in their winning streak, not allowing more than 67 points in any of those six games, but gave up 83 to Rider. The last time these teams met, Niagara managed a big 105-89 win. I think Canisius can do a little better this time though, so I’ll take the Griffins for the cover here.
